It is about time some attention is being paid to updating the ADA. What else would have to be said, if only the one to hold the deciding vote was just once trapped outside a building, or inside a building , or restroom, or hallway, or dressing room, or bathroom, or restaurant or bank. To be left on the outside, looking in, having to grin and bear it, because of a curb or missing inch of space, takes a piece of your soul every time you have to accept it, in this day and age, when men are on the Moon and cars talk. When you have to think your trapped because the person building this builiding didn't care to think about a disabled person wanting to use this facility and there were no regulations requiring him to. Most disabled people are just happy to be alive and often get a bad reputation as being bitter and angry, when nobody stops to think they might just be frustrated by all the obstacles they encounter when just trying to navigate out in public. Although the ADA has done incredible things for improving these conditions, there is still a long way to go. Having designated accessable parking spaces, dressing rooms, and restrooms is a basic necessity for the disabled, but is so often abused by the general public. There needs to be some kind of public awarness to the hardship a negligent attitude causes for a disabled person when these facilities are used by those who do not need them.
